Update from Germany

Being temporarily (I hope) unemployed and since the “cat” moved away, I’m spending a lot of time watching TV. Since we only have 300+ channels, there’s not much to choose from. Seriously, most of the channels are in languages I don’t even recognize. I’ve caught up on a British soap I used to watch (Coronation Street) and watch a lot of news. Also I’ve watched Sponge Bob Square Pants and Strawberry Shortcake in German.
Mostly I’ve been watching the Euro Sports channel. Yes, it’s broadcasted in German, but with most of the sports, I don’t need to understand the broadcaster. I’ve always loved watching Ski jumping and other winter ski sports. I got sort of hooked on watching Ski jumping back when we were in England.
There’s one sport I’m not sure of. I think its speed ice skating, but it looks more like “roller derby” on ice. Weird sport! I’ve watched speed skating before, and it was nothing like this. In any case, it looks like China is winning (I think).

Missy and I have been using Yahoo IM and we can see and hear each other. On Saturday I had Missy call my mother on the phone while I was on IM. I got to talk to Mom. Her voice wasn’t very strong so I had trouble hearing her, but I did get to talk to her! On Sunday, Tommy was over at Missy’s and Tom and I got to talk and hear him. Isn’t the internet a great invention!
Still no good news on the housing front. The house in Texas is still on the market (we are thinking of renting it out), and we haven’t found a house here yet (still waiting to see the inside of the yellow house on the hill).
I did get a phone call from Ramstein AF Personnel about a vacancy, but don’t think I got the job. The selecting official didn’t seem impressed with my recent experience being Personnel Systems, and not hands on recruiting. Oh well, retirement in August is looking like a viable option.
Take care and keep on knitting!
