Can you say slip sliding away?

It was lightly snowing this morning so I drove the Miata to work. The roads were clear but it was really cold. I parked my car, went inside and started to read emails (boring but necessary). An hour later the secretary came in to tell me that our boss wasn't able to get in because of the ice and snow. I looked outside.... SNOW was belting down you could hardly see my car.

So I can either stay at work and hope the roads get better, or leave and hope I get home before the roads get worse. I elected to leave. A 15 min drive took over an hour. The roads were covered in black ice then covered with snow. I had to stop for a traffic jam and my tires froze to the ice. I didn't panic (aren't you proud of me). I rocked the car by hitting the brakes and then the accelerator. I did slip and slide, but I got out. All the way home I kept praying, please don't make me stop again.

The autobahn was covered in ice and snow, but they were putting down salt. I got behind an 18 wheeler and stayed there until my exit. The roads from the autobahn were no better than the ones from the base. I made it home, but I’m still shaking.

When I got home, I had a big surprise. NO HEAT! Had to call the landlord.  He sent a heating guy (who speaks little English).  What I did understand was that he had to go get a part.  He wasn't gone long.  Seems the part store is just down the road.  He had a big heavy van so he had no problem with the road.  It took awhile, but he replaced the pump and I have heat.

So how’s your day?

Now what?
