Austria was beautiful

On Friday, 2 July 2010 after work we drove to Tom’s Aunt Micky’s house in Friedberg. It’s only about a 90 minute drive so we arrived in time for dinner with Micky and Helmut. We had an early night as we were leaving the next morning (early) for Austria.

I've uploaded some of the photos to my flickr site.  Click here to check them out.
Micky and Helmut had made the reservations earlier in the year for two rooms at  Bergassthof Zottensberg Gashof in Windischgarsten Edlbach in the Austria Alps. It’s a family run guest house and they made you feel like one of the family. Of course, Micky and Helmut have been here many times so they were almost family. The owners and their children are very involved in the running of the guest house. The “boys” Peter and Thomas are twins, but don’t look alike. They are very different in personality too. Peter is tall and always smiling. He plays the guitar in the family band. Thomas is more shy, but has such a sweet way. When they played music you had to smile.

During the vacation we visited many places in the Alps, including a visit to the Eagles Nest. That was the only day that we had bad weather. It rained and was freezing cold during the morning visit to Hitler’s Tea house. It was not the best day as it was not only rainy, it was foggy and cold. We spent the morning there, and then drove back to Austria. Much warmer there.

Places we went:
Berchtesgaden-Konigssee or better known as “the Eagle’s Nest”
St. Wolfgang Salzkammergut
Spital am Pyhrn
Groben Pyhrgas
Hofaim
Dr. Vogelgesang-Klamm
Rohrauer-Haus
Bosruckhutte
Winderermuseum St Pankraz

I'll write more later.
Oh yeah, I did get some knitting done.
