It's finished

I love this vest. It knitted fast, it looks great. Only one problem, the yarn wasn't the greatest stuff. Of the 6 skeins, 5 had knots in them where the yarn had been retied. One skein had 5 ties within about 3 rows. UGH! Otherwise the yarn worked up nice. Not sure I'd use it again as I hated having to pull out knitting so I could get the knot to the side of the vest.

Let’s see, what do I blog about today?

Camping at the Casino was fun. Tom really loves his camper. We drove down on Thursday and came back on Sunday. When we got up on Friday morning, I found mushrooms had grown up in the yard around the camper. Weird stuff.

Before we went to England we had a smaller camper, we used it just about every other weekend to go to Corpus Christi. When we came back to SA from UK, we bought a great house, put in a pool and spa. We got a new camper (larger with slides), but we don’t go to the coast like we did. Now we use the camper to go to the casino. The camper has all the conveniences of home, but you can pull it along. If I’m going camping, it’s gotta be in the camper.

Now for some knitting content.
I’ve started knitting Striped Modular vest from Creative Knitting Sept 2008. I made a few changes. Instead of using Berroco Jasper, I substituted Patons SWS. This is a soy Wool self striping yarn. It’s 70% Wool and 30% soy. You know me, I love using markers instead of counting, so I made a change to the pattern. Instead of knitting 3 together, I used knit 2 together twice with a marker between the decrease stitches. I’m not sure I would have tried a modular vest if I hadn’t taken a class with Anne Modesitt last fall. She showed me how to do the decrease in a modular purse. That gave me the confidence to try the vest.

So far the vest has been an easy knit. If this “test” vest works, I may make another for a Christmas gift.
Do you realize that Christmas is just around the corner? Keep on knitting.
