Counting down our days in Texas

Monday we took the BMW to Dallas to start it's trip to Germany. On the way, I got a speeding ticket. First ticket I've ever gotten. 40 years of driving and I got my first ticket 5 minutes from home. UGH. Darn Schertz cop. I tried to pay the ticket on Tuesday, the cop hadn't put the ticket into the computer. I called on Wednesday and Thursday, still not in the computer. Today it finely showed up so I could pay it.

We start out "pack" out next week. Thursday they take the express shipment, Friday the storage stuff is picked up. Then on 26 and 27 Jan, the rest of our stuff is packed up and shipped to Germany.

The house is still on the market. The real estate agent will have to earn her money. She's going to have to take care of the house. We are are having the pool taken care of and someone will cut the grass while it's on the market. With the current housing situation, it might be awhile before the house sells. I hope not.

More to come.....

Tom's got a report date

He starts his new job in Germany on 15 Feb. We’ve gone back and forth on whether I was going to go with him, or stay behind until the house sells. Tonight we made the decision. I’m going with him. We are going to have someone take care of the house, yard and pool until it sells. So now we start the countdown. Tomorrow Tom has an appointment to set the dates for the household goods to be packed up for shipment to Germany. We drive the BMW to Dallas on Monday for shipment. My car will be shipped commercially the end of the month.
So it looks like we are headed for Germany. Now if the house would only sell!

Mom found my hat

Seems it wasn't really lost after all, it was caught up in Mom's jacket. Not sure how that happened, but sure glad Mom found it. I don't have enought yarn to knit another one to match my scarf.

I have been knitting, really!

Here's the proof.

When did using a turn signal become optional?

Something I noticed during our trip to Virginia was that only about half the cars on the road use turn signals. Does that mean that the use of turn signals has become optional? It sure looked like it to me. While driving on I64 it seemed like no one used their “blinkers”. They just switched lanes, turned off the interstate and even pulled over without ever using the turn signals. So many dangerous (i.e. bad drivers) on the road!
Now for a little “knitting content”. Remember the hat and scarf I knitted for myself? Well, during our trip, I managed to lose my hat. I had taken Mom to the cemetery to put crosses on the family graves. Mom’s legs gave out on her and she went down (not hard and she wasn’t hurt). While helping Mom get back to the jeep, I lost not only my hat, but also the lens cap to my camera. I wasn’t wearing the hat; I had stuffed it into my pocket. We went back to look for the lens cap (I didn’t notice the missing hat until later), but we didn’t find it. Tom will order a new lens cap for me, but I’ll have to knit the hat. Not enough yarn left of the original yarn so not sure what I’ll do.
