Too sick to knit?

It started Saturday night, just a nagging cough. By Sunday night I had trouble breathing, a hacking cough and a fever. Tom insisted I get on line and make a medical appointment. To get him off my back, I went to Tricare on line to check out appointments for Monday. In the past, there haven't been any appointments on line and you have to wait until 0730 on Monday to call and hope you get an appointment. Since I go to a military clinic, I didn't really have any faith in getting a same day appointment. It seems that the "Spirits" were with me and I was able to sign up for an appointment for 0830 on Monday.

Good thing, I have Pneumonia. Doc gave me a choice, 5 day's bed rest, or go to the hospital. Guess my choice? Yep, I took the 4 Prescriptions and the medical bed rest document. The Doc won't release me to return to work until 9 June.

The worst thing is I'm too sick to knit (can't concentrate).
Well it’s back to bed for me.

Knitting update

The kids (and grandkids) have returned to Florida so I've gotten my knitting out. I've been hooked on cables lately. So far I've knitted 2 sweaters (size 6 months and 3 years) and I've just started the third sweater in size 5.

The pattern is called Aran Pullover from "A time for Baby". The cable chart is an easy one to remember and it's a fun knit. Once I finish the third sweater, it will probally be the last one for awhile.

I've got to start working on Christmas gifts. Yep, that's right we only have around 6 months to Santa time. This year, I'm only making small gifts, mittens, bags, hats etc.

Who knew?

Who knew that having grandkids visiting would be such work? OK, I should have know, after all I had kids. But in my defense, I'd forgotten how much work kids are. It seems we're always feeding, cleaning or transporting them. Did you know that wet bathing suits and towels seem to multiply on the bathroom floor? I can't figure out how 3 kids (and two parents) who never remember to take a towel out to the pool no matter how many times they are reminded. And what's with the never ending cartoons!

It's been a long time since I had to worry about kid safety and my house isn't (or wasn't) kid friendly. It's better know.

Now a little about yesterday's adventure. We went to Natural Bridge Caverns "the largest caverns in Texas". We did the North Carvern Tour, called Discovery. It took about 90 minutes to take the tour. I was worried that Jack being only 3 would be afraid. Not our Jack Jack. He was all for it.

We did have to be careful as the walkways were wet.

The underground chambers were filled with spectacular formations. It was a great tour. Walking down was easier than walking back up. My legs are still hurting.

Just outside the caverns is Texas Natural Mining Company "Tesas' Largest Sluice". Of course, the kids had to have a chance to pan for minerals and fossils. The found "gems" and arrowheads. Watching their faces when they discovered items in the pan was worth the trip.

Although, I've not been knitting, Missy did bring her knitting project. She's been learning to knit from Brad's grandmother (GG's in her 90's). Missy's been working on a scarf for over a year. No, it's not miles long, it's only about 3 feet long. At this rate, she should be finished sometime next year.
