I've been knitting

This morning I started knitting a toddler’s sweater. The back is complete. I’m knitting both fronts at the same time and I’m about half way on both. The yarn is Baby Soft by Lion Brand yarn and it’s working out great. The pattern is a raglan sleeve basic sweater in size one.

I’m doing the basket-weave stitch. I’m not sure if I’ll put a collar on it or just do a rib around the top. The button band is going to be a simple rib (I think).

Also I finished the baby feet washcloth for another co-workers new grandson. Once it’s blocked, I take a photo to share. It turned out smaller than I though it would be, but it is for a baby so it won’t be too small.

Yesterday I designed a shawl for my good friend, Cathy’s mother. Since I want this to be a special shawl, I wanted to use a special yarn. In checking with my local yarn shops I found that they didn’t have the yarn and/or color in stock. I could order this yarn from the internet, but I’m one of those that has to touch the yarn before I buy it. So sometime this week, I’ll have to make a trip to a local craft shop and see what they have that will fit the pattern I’ve got in my head to knit. Maybe Cathy will need to go with me to select the yarn.
Later this week, I’ll take photos of my knitting group to share. Keep on knitting

OK, I’ve stopped my temper tantrum over the LOYS.

It’s too small and I’ve accepted that. I have to look on the good side; I didn’t do the sleeves first. So it looks like I’ll finish the sweater (at a later date) and give it away. Something I discovered in trying to take a photo of me wearing the sleeveless sweater is that the flash is sure bright when you face it into a mirror (even one that needs cleaning).

The last few days have been cold and wet here in SA. We’ve even used the fireplace. It looks like winter has hit south Texas. Tom put in a fire with “real” wood. It sure looked nice.

After my disaster with the LOYS, I wasn’t sure I wanted to start anything else right away. So I just looked around for something easy to do (that I couldn’t totally screw up). I looked through my book collection and found my Elizabeth Zimmermann books. I decided to do the Rib Warmer vest from “knitting workshop”. Started it yesterday and have almost finished it. It looks good, but next time I’ll use a smaller needle size, as the stitches seem a little loose. I did get gauge this time so maybe that’s the way it’s suppose to be.
If Missy and Trina are reading this, YOU ARE GROUNDED!!!! I haven’t received photos of the grandkids in days. Trina, you are only behind a week. Missy, you are so grounded. It’s been over a month!

Someone Help Me!

My Left Over Yarn Sweater is to SMALL!!!!!! For the first time in months I actually knit something for myself, and I get the gauge wrong... UGH.

And we knit along

One of the co-workers I've been teaching to knit sent me these photos. She knitted a scarf for one of her pets, Katy. Isn't she a beauty. I mean the dog, but the scarf's great too.

It's Wed so it must be knit class time

We had another knit class at work. I'm really impressed with the dedication they are putting into learning to knit. Some are still having a little trouble with the needles but they are working hard. Today I showed them the purl stitch. Some loved it, some weren't so sure about this backward knit stitch. The hour just seemed to rush along. Before we knew it, time was up and we had to go back to our desk and work.
I'm not sure how our supervisor feels about us taking over part of the office to knit, but so far she's been very tolerant.
